Holding Onto My Yoga in the Coming Months

This past Saturday, I taught my last yoga class for a good, long while. I’m 39 weeks pregnant. Due one week from today. And at the end of this week, I officially begin maternity leave.

In the past couple of months, I’ve had to radically alter my own yoga practice. I stopped attending my usual open and advanced level classes, and limited movement to one prenatal class a week, plus a handful of stretches twice a day. I also started incorporating meditation into my days. And of course, I still moved a bit as I taught my classes.

Now that my subs are taking over and I’m just about ready to pop out a baby, I’m wondering how I’m going to continue to make yoga a part of my day-to-day life, especially as my hoo-ha is healing and I’m adjusting to new motherhood. I don’t want to lose my practice. And I want my eventual return to a regular practice and to regular teaching to go smoothly.

Any yoga moms out there care to share what they did in the months after they first gave birth?
